This was our first Cold War display of 2021, over three sunny days in Hampshire. Despite the event digger being unavailable, we set up a display based around a hand-dug trench, with Switzerland, Austria, Yugoslavia, Italy, Canada and Poland all represented in one way or another. It was a fantastic weekend out, and hopefully we can return in force for 2022 (even if it did end up being a very expensive few days for some of us....)!
Here are a few photographs from the event:
Starting with a proper pub dinner on the Friday night, followed by trench-digging throughout the day on Saturday, we had a good time showing off our kit to the public and meeting up with old friends from prior events. The hospitality of the WW2 Russian camp was impeccable, with them even offering us some homemade plov (which was delicious, even if hard to identify). We were also loaned kit by neighbours, as we had been at Hack Green last year, and it was good to see them again. We dug a fire pit, set fire to some logs, didn't burn anything down by mistake and constantly annoyed Russ by tripping over his guy ropes. Altogether, not a bad few days, that even Nick's car breaking down couldn't totally spoil....
